Assessment

Students will be assessed on key topics using questions designed to assess their knowledge of History, interpret sources and answer reliability and explanation based questions. Year 7 acts as an introduction to the skills required at secondary school, through the history students will be encouraged to develop their critical thinking skills and use of sources. Questioning will be common place and students will be given several exam style questions to answer each half term, they will then be  given opportunity to reflect and improve upon these.

Assessment

Students will be assessed on key topics using questions designed to assess their knowledge of History, interpret sources and answer extended explanation based questions. Year 8 mainly focuses on the development of England from changes in the power of the Church under Henry, through to technological advances. The core concept of “change” is thoroughly explored and frequently assessed. The correct use of Historical sources as a skill will also be a key focus.  Written questions will frequently be marked and students will be given opportunity to develop their written work further

Assessment

Students will be assessed on key topics using questions designed to assess their knowledge of History, interpret sources and answer extended interpretation and explanation based questions which require a judgement. Year 9 focuses on the development of explanation skills and critical thinking in relation to modern History. Assessment takes the forms of frequent written activities, which is subsequently marked and feedback provided.

Assessment

Students will be examined in Mock Exams on both this years’ work (Paper 3), as well as the Year 12 content (Paper 1 and 2). They will also be receiving exam based homework that will be marked. Students will also have an internal coursework assignment due worth 20% of their A Level.
