KS3 - (Years 7, 8 & 9)

Students in Year 7, 8 & Year 9 will study topics from the six sub groups of Number, Shape, Algebra, Probability, Ratio and Proportion and Data. The curriculum has been designed to greatly improve student’s mastery of mathematics and will include a strong emphasis on solving problems and applying mathematics in the real world.
Assessment
Students will be assessed in various different ways throughout every lesson depending on the topic being covered. Assessment can take the form of homework tasks, topic tests, and problem solving questions or exam style questions. They will write 2 formal assessments, one non-calculator paper for the first assessment; one non-calculator paper and one calculator paper for the second assessment.

Assessment
Students will be assessed in various different ways throughout every lesson depending on the topic being covered. Assessment can take the form of homework tasks, topic tests, and problem solving questions or exam style questions. Year 10 will have two formal assessments throughout the academic year and year 11 will have three in the form of exam papers and then the final exam will be an external examination for their GCSE qualification. Year 10 students will write two papers, one non-calculator and one calculator for the first assessment, the second assessment will be in the form of exam papers. Year 11 will write three papers, one non-calculator and two calculator papers.

Assessment
Year 12 and 13 have three formal assessments throughout the academic year, one in each term. In year 12 all three are internal assessments. In year 13, the summer assessment will be the external exam for their A-level qualification. In between these formal assessments students will complete low stake topic tests, weekly homework and there will be assessment via mini-whiteboards, questioning, problem solving and exam style questions in every lesson.
